The theme for this month is
Communication & Intellect
Wow,
another month scratched off the calendar! It seems that no sooner has
one month begun, than it's ended and another taken its place. Maybe
time truly is speeding
up!
But
that's just fine by Gemini. Communication, travel, knowledge - whatever
it is, Gemini likes it fast and furious. Ever wonder why Mercury,
Gemini's ruling planet, has wings on his feet? He needs all the help he
can get to flit from one interest to another all within 24 hours. Which
still isn't quite enough time for gregarious Gemini.
Good
thing, too, that the intellectual offerings this month are in keeping
with the fickle Geminian nature. Because for Gemini - as well as for
many of us - it's all about Communication: getting our message across
to others. If you've ever had a difficult time communicating with, in
particular, your Significant Other, then you know what I mean. Check
out my article,
How Do YOU Communicate?
to see what your and your SOs communication signs are, and how you can
better utilize them in order to communicate more effectively.
Do you
know someone who is overly emotional? Emotions are not a favorite of
the Air Signs. In fact, most Air Signs come across as almost stoic.
But are they really? Find out how emotions can destroy a relationship,
and what to do to prevent that from happening, especially if you're a
fire or water sign, or have numerous planets in fire signs and in water
houses like I do. Check out my article,
Are You Being Held Hostage by Your Emotions?
So
you're not a genius when it comes to handling money; find out what your
star
sign says about your money worries
and whether you and your sweetie are at risk for breaking up based on
the way you each view money.
Weight
problems? Astrology may be able to help. Check out
Can Astrology Help with Weight Loss? Then
learn what scientists are saying about our brains being 'hard wired' to
believe in a Higher Power. Or is it?
Of
course, there are more predictions, planetary information and a new
section devoted entirely to the 2012 phenomenon for those of you who
have asked for more.
And,
finally, Insightful Heart has a warning regarding advice columnists:
while they may mean well, not everyone is cut out to offer advice.
Enjoy!

Spotlight on Gemini
5/21 -
6/20
Gemini
is the sign of thought and communication on a personal level. Natives
of Gemini strive for self-expression, and try to impose their point of
view on others. Gemini is lively, energetic, versatile, intellectual,
fickle and lives primarily in the mind rather than the emotions, and is
extremely adaptable to new situations.
Happy Birthday Gemini!

Mercury Retrograde in Cancer
Ah,
the Mercury Retrograde. What would our life be without a bit of
confusion around communication? The second of the three retrogrades
for 2007 focuses on home, family and emotions. This may be a sensitive
time for many of you, especially Gemini and Virgo, whose planetary
ruler is Mercury. Although Libra and Aquarius may be feeling a bit of
a sting as well, since they, too, are as much in their heads as Sweet
Gemini and really don't care to deal with emotions. (I can think of
one Gemini, in particular, who runs the other way if I even
think
about emoting!) Emotions are messy, and the air signs would just as
soon not have to confront anything that requires that they
feel. Because Virgo is an Earth sign and is generally focused on
their home and family anyway, most Virgoans will be a bit more
accepting of the need to go over old emotional ground. Since the
Retrograde falls at 11 degrees of Cancer, those with planets which
fall at 11 degrees of a sign will be most affected -- and especially
if that sign is Cancer.
To
determine where you need to be focused during this retrograde period,
look at the House where transiting Mercury conjuncts your natal
planets. Don't have a natal chart? Have a natal chart, but aren't
sure where to look?

How Do YOU Communicate in Relationships? by
Kat Starwolf
Getting our point across in everyday conversation with family, friends,
co-workers, customers and with the person on the street can be
challenging enough. But, oftentimes, many of us find that communicating
with a Significant Other is nearly impossible. Why? Does it always
have to be this way? Not if you learn your

how to navigate around and through verbal landmines and other tricky
areas.

(NOTE: Keep in mind that we'll be going through a Mercury Retrograde
transit from June 15 through July 9th. If you normally experience
communication snafus with your sweetie, those communication
breakdowns can easily be magnified during a Mercury Retrograde. Take
heart, a couple of deep breaths, and if it looks like your efforts at
communication are backfiring, wait until after July 9th and try again.) |

Are Humans Hard-wired for Faith?
Neuroscientist, Dr. Andrew Newberg, of the University of Pennsylvania,
is "working on ways to track how the human brain processes religion and
spirituality." According to Dr. Newberg, "brain scans may provide proof
that our brains are built to believe in God. He says there may be
universal features of the human mind that actually make it easier for us
to believe in a higher power." However, if that's true, how can science
logically explain atheists? There are many individuals who absolutely
refuse to believe in God or any sort of Higher Power, regardless of its
name or designation. Is it possible then, that while science can
explain the fact that certain individuals experience brain wave activity
in the parietal lobe when 'communing' with God, atheists may not be
experiencing this phenomenon at all? But if not, why not?
Are atheists - in spite of
their adamant protestations against a belief in God - still 'hard wired
for faith'?

Can Astrology Help with Weight Loss?
Weight
management is an issue for many. But can astrology really assist us in
our efforts in this regard? Based on my own experience and my recent
decision to begin utilizing the astrological cycles to facilitate weight
loss, I'd have to say: yes, it can help. Saturn has been in my sign,
Leo, since July of 2005 and will remain there until later this year.
Saturn provides discipline as well as the desire for restriction (as in
restricting food/calorie intake). I can personally attest that since
I've used specific transits to assist with my weight loss, I have
managed to lose weight. Over the last six months I've lost 44 pounds,
something that has historically been extremely difficult for me to
accomplish. But, don't take my word for it: check out the article

Astrological Hodgepodge & Kommentary
Prophecies & Cosmological Outlook
Pisces and End Time Perceptions What's Next? This month's predictions
are a bit of a horse of a different color. While they are
predictions, they're also actually political prognostications, made by
an astrologer and a political analyst.
"Astrologers have
noted the trend of recently published books intended to debunk the
fallacies of American religiosity as a political influence and have
duly attributed such a turn of mind in recent popular culture to the

The Road to 2012:
Although these
predictions were written a year ago by the renowned astrologer, the
late
Maya del Mar
they are still applicable since we're only a little but farther down
that road leading up to 2012.Truthfully, I had a difficult time
deciding where to put this article, since it deals with predictions
as well as the 2012 phenomenon. But since it really fits better
into the 2012 category, here is where it landed. One of the
interesting things about this information, however, is the fact that
it was offered up by an astrologer. While it's true that the Mayans
(who gave us the 2012 predictions in the first place) were also
excellent astrologers, the majority of the contemporary offerings on
this subject have been contributed by non-astrologers. The three
main planetary players in this drama are Pluto (power), Neptune
(consciousness) and Uranus (change), and which portend major social
change. So, what do we have to look forward to over the next five
years?
On
the Horizon, Political Outlook:
Is Neptune Taking Our Presidents?
?
The
American Presidency has a high mortality rate that would deter most
life insurance brokers. One in five dies in office. And the event
seems to occur with some regularity. Enough to give astrologers reason
to examine it for planetary significance. Much has been written about
this, but the research is miniscule in comparison with what is a truly
principal event.

Studies Show Mammograms May Not Be As Beneficial as We've Been Led to
Believe
I've always been a firm believer that much of the so-called 'new
medical technology' was not as beneficial as we've been led to
believe; and now, finally, someone else has begun to question its
efficacy as well.
Based on statistics compiled by the
National Cancer Institute breast cancer rates in the United States
decreased by 7.2% from 2002 to 2003, indicating a further downward
trend in succeeding years. Additionally, it is claimed that this
decrease is due to the 'fact' that more women are having mammograms
performed.
And
yet, according to a recent article in
Forbes Magazine
mammography rates are also dropping. That is, women aren't having
mammograms as often as they once were. What could account for this
contradictory phenomenon?
In
the well-researched article,
Should You Get Mammograms?, appearing on the site,
Healing Daily.com, the author quotes data from nuclear physicist
and medical doctor, John Gofman's book. Dr. Gofman "strongly indicates
that over 50% of the death-rate from cancer today, and over 60% of the
death-rate from ischemic heart disease today, are [sic]
x-ray-induced."
From
pharmaceutical medications to chemotherapy to x-rays and other
supposedly 'beneficial' forms of allopathic therapy which are
supported and often proactively promoted by our government, it makes
one wonder just who the FDA and other governmental regulatory agencies
are trying to protect: the public or Big Business. Or is this just
more evidence of

as with so many things, who do we believe? And, in fact, should we

Global Warming are
beginning to take their toll. Glaciers which have been around for
millions of years are melting, the Alps are crumbling, the weather

are rising. So what's really going on?

Catastrophic Cosmic Alignment?
Can the Sun and Planets line up across the solar system and cause
disaster here on earth?
For centuries disaster and calamity have been foretold whenever the
planets of our solar system align. In the last few decades these ideas
have found their way into print in books (making their authors good
money) through predictions about the grave consequences of such an
event. The book
The
Jupiter Effect predicted that
California would be hit by major earthquakes set off by an 1982
alignment. Almost two decades later 5/5/2000: Ice, The Ultimate
Disaster said that an alignment in May of 2000 would unleash increased
solar activity, starting a chain of events that would cause the
Earth's crust to slide and poles to shift. Many of these theories
suggest that the tidal forces from these grand alignments can cause
earthquakes, floods and disasters of all sorts. What does science tell
us about these predictions? Can we associate past alignments with
catastrophes? Should we expect disasters from future alignments?

that our thoughts not only affect and effect our own physical and
emotional health, but they affect others as well. Imagine the good we
could do for the world if we put our minds to it.

Ask Kat Insightful Heart Relationship Advice Forum
Ask
Kat is a discussion board format for adults who are looking for
compassionate, sincere, and real advice about life, love,
relationships, and all those hurdles we navigate in our lives.
Questions from the Insightful Heart: Relationship Advice Forum:
Dear Kat:
I've always been interested in astrology and I really enjoy reading
the advice given by different astrologers and relationship experts
on love matters. Recently, however, I had the bad fortune of asking
advice of an astrologer whom I thought would be more compassionate
in her response regarding my interest in a woman with whom I've been
in love for nearly a year but was hesitant to ask out because I
thought she wasn't interested. In a nutshell, the astrologer told me
that I had 'a problem' if I couldn't get it through my 'thick head
that the woman was obviously not interested by her continued
rejection of my advances.' (Without going into too much more
detail, let's just say that it turns out the woman in whom I'm
interested
is
interested in dating, she just thought I wasn't interested!)
Needless to say I was not only shocked by the astrologers 'advice,'
but it left me wondering how many others she's doled out her bad
advice to without ever considering how her words might have affected
them.
Finally, my new girlfriend (yes, we're together now) is a Leo. Is
she genuinely interested in me and will it last?
=======================================
Wow, this certainly brings up several interesting issues. Let's
look at your last question first: based on the birth information
you provided, it looks as though you and your Leo hunny are good to
go. Depending on various factors such as Moon, Mercury and Venus
placement, Leos and Aries are trine to each other, or are more
compatible with each other than with any other sign except
Sagittarius. Leos are really very shy (in spite of their roar), and
will tend to think someone isn't interested in them unless they're
told unequivically that the other person is, indeed, interested.
Is
she genuinely interested? Chances are, yes, she is. Again, while
Leos may be in love with love, they're not unaware of the futility
of being in a relationship in which they are not loved or for which
there seems to be no future. Therefore, when they choose to become
involved, it's usually because they've determined that the
relationship is viable.
Will it last? That is entirely up to the two of you, though your
combined synastry indicates that, yes, it will last.
See
my KatNote below for the response to your issue with the astrologer.
Many Blessings,
~
Kat
On my extensive Internet travels in order to locate the most
informative tidbits and articles for our newsletter and website, I
sometimes come across astrologers and other individuals
who-would-be-advice-columnists. I would have to agree that at times
we all have some good advice to share. But what I've noticed is an
alarming trend to disguise prejudice of one sort or another, as
advice. It's difficult to determine whether the individuals to whom
I'm referring are actually academically licensed or certified as
counselors, but regardless, some of the advice given has been - in
my opinion - unconscionable.
Please, if you're an astrologer or relationship counselor, think
hard about the advice you share with your readers. Oftentimes we
all tend to offer advice based on our own preferences, and not on
what's best for the client. Additionally, interacting with
'clients' over the Internet makes it very difficult for most people
to actually know what
the client truly needs.
If you're a reader/client who has received such questionable advice,
then you know what I mean. And often readers feel almost obligated
to take the advice, because, after all, the person from whom you're
requesting advice must know more than you in this area, right?
No, of course that's not true. Yet, generally, when most of us are
confused and/or hurting, we tend to gravitate to the advice of
someone who we view as being an authority instead of using our own
intuition in the matter. Sometimes it does help to get a second or
validating opinion on a touchy issue, but don't give away all your
power to someone you more than likely don't even know, and who
probably doesn't know any better than you do when it comes to giving
or taking advice of any kind.
Further, even if someone claims or 'seems' to be an expert because
she or he has written a book or appeared on TV or radio, these facts
in and of themselves mean very little if the advice given causes
harm.
My advice is to take everything that you read on these sites
(including mine) with the proverbial grain of salt. If it doesn't
resonate with you, leave it.

"In Money We Trust,"
we'll find happiness
the prevailing attitude;
like a genetically modified irradiated Big Mac
is somehow symbolic of food.
Morality is legislated
prisons over-populated
religion is incorporated
the profit-motive has permeated all activity
we pay our government to let us park on the street
And war is the biggest money-maker of all
we all know missile envy only comes from being small.
Politicians and prostitutes

I wonder if they talk about the strange change in the weather.
This government was founded by, of, and for the people
but everybody feels it
like a giant open sore
they don't represent us anymore
And blaming the President for the country's woes
is like yelling at a puppet
for the way it sings
Who's the man behind the curtain pulling the strings?
A billion people sitting watching their TV
in the room that they call living
but as for me
I see living as loving
and since there is no loving room
I sit on the grass under a tree
dreaming of the way things used to be
Pre-Industrial Revolution
which of course is before the rivers and oceans, and skies were

This was Pre-us
back when the buffalo roamed
and the Indian's home
was the forest, and God was nature
and heaven was here and now
Can you imagine clean water, food, and air
living in community with animals and people who care?
Do you dare to feel responsible for every dollar you lay down
are you going to make the rich man richer
or are you going to stand your ground
You say you want a revolution
a communal evolution
to be a part of the solution
maybe I'll be seeing you around
